Short selling yourself in life is probably not something that you discuss too often but hey welcome to reality check class. If you want to graduate with flying colours I suggest you ask and answer this question seriously.
I had to, have to and will continue to ask myself this question because this my lovely, is the difference between living a mediocre life or living my life on level 11. In Hal Elrod’s book The Miracle Morning, he talks about living a level 10 life. Yes, I added an extra level just for you! LOL (By the way you NEED to read it! The book is FIRE!) Selling yourself short in life is no joke but its a rife epidemic and the more I meet people in everyday life, the more I realise so many people do it.
Today’s post is a little bit different. This is not the kind of post that you’d expect to see on an beauty blog but I’m not making any apologies as I wish somebody had written something like this for me.It’s real, it’s raw and to be honest I won’t be surprised if it touches a nerve but I have to be honest and give you and myself a reality check.
Many people go through life, living unconsciously. They exist. Unhappy in their jobs or careers, they are less than impressed with their bodies, they are sick of the drama that might be surrounding them or the lack of it. Their relationships are crumbling and lets not talk about their love lives. Where is the happiness?
The truth is…IT IS NOBODY’S RESPONSIBILITY TO MAKE YOU HAPPY BUT YOURS!
And yeah I could go on to pump you with all that fluff about happiness being a journey and not a destination and and all that jazz but before I even get there, before I go forward into what you should be defining and then seeking, I need to ask you, are you selling yourself short?
Are you allowing life to pass you and push you? Is life happening to you or being done unto you? What level of control do you have? How much effort are you applying? Have you found your yellow brick road to happiness?
If not, WHY THE HELL NOT?
Maybe you don’t know how to start. You might have lost your mojo. In need of some guidance? Are you looking and feeling like a hot mess? Every morning is a morning where you’re not really ‘feeling it!’
STOP IT! SNAP OUT OF IT, GET A GRIP!
Why you need to stop selling yourself short?
You are loved, liked and even probably envied by people you don’t even know. You’re as deserving as Tom, Dick or Harriet to have the life that you designed your damn self. Nobody or nothing other than God himself should ever make you feel like you’re not enough.
As Eleanor Roosevelt so nicely put it:
So why are you letting that happen to you? Where is your internal samurai? Deep down you know that you are well versed in the way of the ninja. Your ninja.
I know you’re not happy in yourself and even when you are that lasts for a few days or weeks. That feeling overtakes me on some days too. Most human beings have the tendency to want to give up and not bother and feel that nobody really cares anyway but Robin Sharma put it best when he said:
It can be different
I’m here to tell you that there is more to this life than living in the mediocrity that is eating up your soul. There is Level 11 out there! Your own special level when all is right in your world and even when something tries to take you down, you stay so high above it that it felt like turbulence. You can have it all. That body, that house, those holidays, amazing friends, great relationships, fulfilment, happiness. ALL OF IT.
I know that you’re tired of the constant upkeep, and keeping up with the Joneses (who are they anyway?) This is your life, this is your time! It’s time to create your standards. No more doing things by accident. Start by deciding what changes TODAY, not tomorrow, not next week, today.
I know you’re probably thinking that this might be too much for you but the opportunity is there and you just have to take it!
