Business No Man’s Land sucks. Yeah I said it lol!
It’s been a long while since I posted a blog post.
I’ve had a hiatus. It wasn’t intentional but it was definitely necessary.
So I’m sure you’re wondering where I’ve been?
The truth is…. I haven’t been anywhere and that’s been the problem. I’ve been in business no man’s land.
Let me explain….
When you run a business it comes with loads of unexpected caveats and sometimes overwhelm and just shell shock to be honest. I have had to take a little break from blogging because I needed to go back to the drawing board. I needed to go and talk to my readers about what it is they are actually looking for and what I can do to give value. In the midst of that I also needed to ensure that I didn’t lose my authentic voice.
You see….there are thousands and thousands of blogs out there in the blogosphere and the truth is that I realised that blogging isn’t just about bringing something new to the table. It’s also about bringing truth, honesty, unreserved me and you my readers. I need you to know what team I’m on and I’m on your team. I’m here to serve you and not myself so I needed to go and think about how that’s going to work for you. I think Coco Chanel said it best:
I don’t always get things right, afterall I’m a human being but one thing that I have always consistently done is strive for improvement. I had perfectionist syndrome and it tired me out so I decided that seeking progress was actually more important. My business is work in progress. I’m a work in progress. Those are my mantras and I’m sticking to them. LOL
That’s why I’m back. That’s why I’m showing up. That’s why I’m going to be consistent even when the odds are against me, or I don’t know what to say or I’m having a bad day.
I’m even going to increase the frequency of my blogs. Rather than it being once a week, I’m going to increase it to two blog posts a week. Yes it’s more work and yes it takes more time but it also means more for my reasons for you to stick with me and this blog and more reasons for you to engage on a personal level.
In my little break I’ve also realised how much I’ve missed blogging and how much I’ve really wanted to offer some encouragement for anyone who is struggling with anything that’s going on right now. Here are ….. tips:
1.Be Ok With Taking Time Out
Can I just remind you that you’re not bionic. Lol. You’re a human being like any other and you need R & R just like anyone else. Be ok with just taking a chill pill and ignore the ants in the pants that are telling you to just keep going anyway. You’re business wont collapse in 5 minutes.
Sometimes you need to take ask yourself ‘Why?’ If you don’t ask yourself questions. You don’t get answers and if you don’t get answers, you don’t find out reasons. I read this amazing blog post on Lifehack.org called ‘8 Reasons Why Asking Yourself ‘Why’ Is Important To Life’. I felt so much better. You can read it here too.
3. Actively relax
Do you know how hard it is to consciously practice relaxing? I mean total switch off. It’s bloody hard! But you need to be able to just put the phone down, ignore social media, not use your brain. Try it. I’ve realised that as I’m a person with stimulation problems I have to try even harder.
4. Do things that calm you down
That means, walk, swim, read, drink (tea or water that is…or procesco on the weekend 🙂 haha). Do the activities that make you feel warm and fuzzy inside and actually have some benefit for you.
5. Plan your business
It’s taken me a little while to understand that I have to plan out the plans that I make. It all well and good having the most colourful and visually beautiful google calendar ever to grace this planet but what actually happens when something is on the schedule and there isn’t any real plan for that thing inside the plan. Take blogging for example, it’s on the business schedule. What exactly am I going to blog about? If I tried to at least answer that question before it needed to be acted out on the schedule I would have clarity about what to do when I’m supposed to be doing it. Are there any plans in your plan that need planning.
That’s all from me for this one folks. Apologies for not being too fresh with these posts.
I hereby declare that I will do better and thanks for sticking with me.
