Summer Makeup can be a little bit of a difficult thing to work out. You want to look amazing but sometimes the makeup just doesn’t co-operate.
Summer Sixteen Makeup has been a topic of conversation over the weekend as we’ve had lovely weather in London. It inspired me to write a blog post and write one quick as I suspect we’re going to revert to a regular British Summer pretty soon LOL. What better time to discuss what makeup happenings should be happening this summer whilst its around eh?
What do I do with my summer makeup?
So as you may or may not know, I’m not a fan of plastering my face in loads of makeup during the summer months. I’m not a fan of plastering full stop! ? Let’s be honest, it just melts off anyway and sometimes you end up looking like more of a hot mess than before you started. So as I’m definitely one for sharing, I thought I’d share what I’m getting away with this summer. I call them rules for summer makeup because I follow them all summer quite religiously and I don’t want to spend my autumn correcting preventable skin issues.
Prevention is better than cure and all that jazz!
Here are my 4 rules:
1.Tinted Moisturiser is your best friend.
Yeah I mean that. I very rarely wear foundation in the summer. I’m sweaty and oily and the two things combined for me just mean that I’m prone to the ugliest of face melts. I genuinely #cantdeal! I use NARS Pure Radiant Tinted Moisturiser. It has SPF in it, which I love because I would forget to wear any otherwise. I love its consistency and coverage too because I apply it with a brush like it’s a foundation. I use this product all year round not just in summer so it had to feature. It makes my summer makeup simple.
2.Tissues ‘r’ Us
I carry tissue everywhere with me during the summer. Partially because my nose bleeds all the damn time and just because you really don’t know where that sweat bead that trickles from your forehead is going to land. If your luck is anything like mine it will land on your perfectly sculpted brows (In the words of Homer Simpson…DOH!) Don’t get caught out by the sweat bead of doom ladies. It’s really not funny and having your summer makeup ruined is just not the one.
3.Eyebrows & Lipstick please!
Some days I only do my eyebrows and wear lipstick (Lipstick blog post coming up soon!) . I still look like I made an effort. My skin looks glorious in the summer (so long as I don’t have annoying heat rash) and as I’m wearing some epic sunglasses most of the time, they cover a multitude of sins, if I actually have any.
4.Face Be Free
Yeah you read right, some days I wear no makeup at all! Nothing, nada! I like to let my face be free and breathe and be at one with the elements. I can pretend that it happens as often as I would like because you know how I feel about leaving your face unprotected. I wrote about it here. It does feel nice thought to be able to scratch your face and not look like an art project afterwards. RESULT!
So in order for you to enjoy the rest of summer sixteen and prevent face melt and all of the annoying and makeup destroying things that happen, do it lighter, do it simply and most of all love it!
Let me know what you do for summer makeup and comment below.
